Monster

Monster… With heavy hearts. 

 

Bad news… Terrible news…

It grows… It brews…

All over… the news

Electronic, print, television crews…

The world is scared, it kneels

Shaken to the core, fright spews

The haughty humbled

Mighty nations tumble

Great people fumble

Economies crumble

The firm stumble

Foundations shake and rumble

Millions grumble

As they are reduced to rubble

All over, Carcasses

Slashed without cutlasses

Staggering masses

Silent noises

Like shattered glasses

Withered grasses

 

The world bleeds

Our earth bleeds

Ineffective creeds

As the pandemic rages

Spraying about viral particles

Propagated like seeds

At unrivaled speeds

The human race reduced

To its basic needs

 

We look on… We stare

Helpless… With pleading eyes

At this monster

While its gaping mouth

Swallows thousands…

Our gaping mouths…

Can only exclaim…

“Tragic! Tragic!”
